Aspiring Bakers #1: Chiffon Cakes (Nov 2010)

I'm thinking of starting our very own monthly baking event.

I'll call ourselves the "Aspiring Bakers" (you like this name?).

I'll start it as a monthly event first to see if the response is good.

For this month's challenge, I'll be the host and the theme is "Chiffon Cakes".

Who can join?
Everyone!(if you do not have a blog, just send me a photo of your bake)

How to join?

Step 1. Bake and post any chiffon cakes in the month of Nov 2010. You can submit more than 1 post.

Your post must include the recipe or link to the original recipe. If you are using a recipe from a book, please include the title of the book too. Please also mention in your blog that you are submitting your post to Aspiring Bakers #1: Chiffon Cakes (Nov 2010) and link to this page.

Step 2: Email to smallsmallbaker@yahoo.com.sg in the following format:

Your name or nickname:
Your blog name:
Name of your bake:
URL of your post:
Attachment of your photo in your email (one photo for each entry, preferably < 500kb).

The closing date is: 30 Nov 2010. All entries will be compiled and posted on 1 Dec 2010.

Looking for a host for the next month (Dec 2010), please email me with a suggested theme.

This idea just come to my mind today and I still need some time to fine-tune the details for this event. Any suggestions are welcome. Might need someone to design a logo as well.

Please support and join !

  14. Hi busygran, DG, ReeseKitchen, Hanushi, Jane,

Looking forward to see all your posts. Success or fail, all can join, as long as you have tried. I'm not too good at chiffon cakes too, this is the chance to practise.

Miss B, "Bread" will be one of the themes for our monthly bakes too. See who will help me host for that.

Gert, yes you can submit your DDL chiffon cake, as long as it is posted in the month of Nov. Just need to edit your post to mention that you are submitting this post to Aspiring Bakers #1: Chiffon Cakes (Nov 2010) and link to this page. Then email me according to the format I have given. You are the first to join! :)

Perhaps it was my latest bake and I wanted to try and practise more. Hope you can attempt and show us, maybe the chiffon experts can help to identify what goes wrong. :)

this is a great idea! not too sure if I can commit. I will definitely be baking a chiffon cake this month. If I do post, I will submit it under this month's challenge.

I think dec's theme can be gingerbread cookie, xmas iced cookies or log cake..somewhere along that line since its festive season

  31. Hey SSB! Great idea that you come out with! I will certainly support you. Monthly would be good for a start. It sounds like the Daring Bakers but those seem too challenging. Perhaps can start off with more simple bakes and progress further. :)

I just baked a chiffon cake recently and I'll support you! It is ok that if i'm busy I don't participate every month ya?

  37. SSB, I can see that the chiffon entries are all in high standard. Sorry that I couldn't attempt this competition because I saw this too late and was too busy to make a chiffon last week. Happy to attempt a 2nd set of baking event. Thanks for organizing this. I'm excited to see the winner of this event :D

    ReplyDelete
  38. Hi Zoe, I'm sorry that this is not a competition and there will be no winners. It's just a place for us to bake and share our recipes according to the themes designated every month.

If you have posted any chiffon cakes in your blog in Nov, you can send in your entries (only 2 days left)! If not, you are welcome to join us for future monthly event, which will be announced on 1st of every month. :)
