Steamed Moist Chocolate Cake

Labels: , ,

It was another baking session for me and my nephew. I steamed the cake, made and spread the fudge frosting and left the cake decoration task to my nephew, as he wanted to decorate the cake himself for his mummy (my sister). The cake turned out to be so lovely and colourful! I think he did a great job! :)

The Steamed Moist Chocolate Cake from Peng's Kitchen was a nice one, moist and fudgey. I'm glad that I have steamed the cake well, and not turning it into a "kueh"! It's a good recipe for those who without an oven and electric mixer.

This cake looks very moist. I've not tried any steam cake yet. Are you steaming a cake in the oven or other methods?

Hi!
I also made this cake 3 months back for my son's birthday! Think we'd used the same recipe! :)
This cake is devilish moist and chocolatey!
BTW, do you know you can actually use corn oil in place of butter?
Though easy to make & delicious to eat, we find it rather "oily"...:( May be age catching up can't take "oily" stuff! :D

Your cake looks pretty!!

I also like steamed choc cake, steamed cake is usually more moist than baked one.

This has become my regular cake. I adapted the recipe from Aunty Yochana's blog, the recipe looks pretty much the same, it just that it's measured using cup.

Thanks Anncoo. He will be happy to hear this. :)

Hi Grace, just steam it in the way you steam your food, either in a pot or wok. Do try it!

Thanks Fanny! I think it looks more like a children's cake than a cake for my sister. Haha!

Hi MH, I agree. Oh, I didn't know. It will be healthier to replace butter with corn oil. I like the fudge frosting. But it's quite sweet. Cannot eat too much. :)

Thanks Angel! Ya, so many bakers have done it already and come out with different adaptations. I just used Peng's Kitchen's as I saw it not long ago. :)

Hi wiffy, it's really easy to steam this cake. Esp no mixer is required. Less washing. Haha! You can try it out. :)
